Biodegradable materials
Biodegradable materials are usually referred to as materials that can be easily decomposed by bacteria, fungi, or exposure to temperature, UV and oxygen, within a short period of time (usually within 6 months), and without polluting.
Compostable materials
Compostable materials, which are a subclass of biodegradable materials, can be decomposed by means of composting, which means that they turn into humus when placed in organic household wastes, straws of crops, or leaves, under suitable temperature and humidity degree.
Biodegradable and compostable materials are mainly used, in the packaging industry, as an eco-friendly solution to replace undegradable petroleum-based plastic products, due to the increasing solid waste in many counties.
EN 13432
According to the definition given by the EN 13432: Requirements for Packaging Recoverable through Composting and Biodegradation, biodegradable materials shall fulfill at least the following requirements:
ASTM D6400
ASTM D6400 is the standard specification for solid material biodegradation (by composting) required for the labeling of plastics designed to be aerobically composted in municipal or industrial facilities.
Which materials are biodegradable and compostable?
PLA
Under these industrial composting conditions, PLA can be biologically degraded within a few days, up to a few months. Customers who have requirements for toughness and transparency can use PLA as a raw material for shopping bags and mailing bags, tough enough, not easy to break, and close to ordinary plastic bags.
PBAT
It is a flexible material and has a high elongation at break, as well as good hydrophilic and processing properties. PBAT has been widely used in the production of blown film and its associated membrane products. We use the PBAT + corn starch-based to make garbage bags, shopping bags, pet waste bags.
PBS
PBS is a biodegradable aliphatic polyester with properties that are comparable to polypropylene. The straws and tableware we produce are made of PBS, which is chemically stable and resistant to high temperatures. the applications of PBS could be found as disposable products such as tableware or medical articles.
Biodegradable Modified Material
We are equipped with our own R&D center to develop modified resins suitable for different packaging products. We have 8 kinds of raw materials corresponding to different products, which can be directly used in ordinary film blowing machines.
